Das Hamburger Marktforschungsunternehmens Fittkau & Maaß
hat ermittelt, dass der Firefox-Browser (in Deutschland) mit 45,4 Prozent Marktanteil vor dem Internet Explorer (44,5 Prozent) liegt.

Meine Meinung:
Microsoft hatte zwar mit dem Internet Explorer 8
in mehrerer Hinsicht große Fortschritte gemacht; alleine schon aus Sicherheitsgründen (und natürlich der enormen Erweiterbarkeit!) sollte man jedoch
Firefox den Vorzug geben.
Dank der riesigen Verfügbarkeit von Add-ons
für Webentwickler (z.B. Firebug
und Web Developer )
gibt es zur Zeit keine gleichwertige Alternative.
